Chalk Out is a part of the preparation for collaborative program PLAY, which is a part of the International dance festival AURA 21 and Kaunas Biennial TEXTILE’11. After months of virtual discussions artists are meeting in Berlin to rehearse the sketches where visuals meets the body.

Chalk Out is centered around the notion of time. From this theme arises a cluster of questions that informs the work:

- Can performance be an experience by proxy, where the performers are vehicles and transmitters of direct, embodied, non-verbal experiences?
- How does repetitive actions influence perception of time? Quoting Deleuze: “The one substance is always-differentiating process, an origami cosmos, always folding, unfolding, refolding. Theory of bakers' transformation: kneading the dough (bending, and rebending), it improves the quality of the dough by getting fresh air inside, it becomes more fluffy, softer and lighter.”

About Inga Liksaite: textile designer and visual artist. In her creative practice, Inga takes images from her previous works and remakes them. Every object has prototype and becomes a prototype for the next one, therefore time consuming processes are inevitable in her stitched work. Recently she had her solo exibition in gallery Hoffman&Weiss. She also collaborates with animation artist Claudia Rohrmoser. Their skills and ideas converge in the projects, where stitches go moving or moving pictures are captured by a needle.

About Kenneth Flak: dancer, choreographer and composer. He has danced in the works of, amongst others, André Gingras, Dansdesign, Preeti Vasudevan and Richard Siegal. Flak is a regular guest teacher at universities and professional workshops around the world. A self-taught composer, he frequently writes the music for his own choreographies. Currently he is collaborating with choreographer and dancer Külli Roosna on projects under the name Kompanii Kuri Koer.

She worked in several dance and research projects leaded by choreographer Dylan Newcomb and research project about the connection between dance and Spiral Dynamics theory. She has also worked with choreographers as Aida Redza, Amy Raymond, Ezequiel Sanucci. Lately she is teaching in Tallin University.

In the Gallery Hoffmann + Weiss Inga Likšaitė shows her selected works which she collects under the title "He was a Drama Queen". Under this title she creates a narrative on exploring the shift of a certain character description to an ironical introspective reflection on "drama" of an artistic creativity and imaginery.

LT: Kūrinio idėja - šauksmas, atsigręžus į savo gimtąjį miestą, Kauną. Kūrinio ašis yra Gintaro Patacko eilėraštis ''Myriop išėjusi bohema“, iš 1993m. išleisto autorinio poezijos rinkinio.

Gintarą Patacką sutinku kaskart praeidama pagrindine miesto alėja. Jis sėdi vienoje iš lauko kavinių prie rytinio/pietinio kavos puodelio ir skaito arba rašo, arba šneka su draugeliais... G.Patackas - vienas iš personažų, neatsiejamų nuo Kauno gatvės kultūros. Traktuoju jį kaip gyvą miesto legendą, kuri sieja praeitį ir dabartį, o jo kūryba gaivališka ir negailestinga. Todėl poeto eilėraštį - nostalgišką kreipinį į bohemišką visuomenę ir ilgesį gyvybingai ir linksmai aplinkai savo kūrinyje naudoju kaip metaforą, turinčią tą patį emocinį svorį, kaip........

Inga Likšaitė is Ariadne of the new times, the holder of the magic thread who no longer bothers to aid the ungrateful Theseus. Instead, she is lured into a puzzling maze of woman’s world to discover the most subtle nuances of it. Just like in Greek mythology and art, the fleece thread remains the tactile means of communication between the concrete reality and the intangible space of artwork. The artery of the seam pulsating across the cloth in stitches appears to the artist not only the method of constructing the image, but also the link with the tradition....
